Founded in 1950, Huadu District People’s Hospital of Guangzhou was assessed as the Affiliated Huadu Hospital of Southern Medical University in December 2005; specified as the Designed Hospital of Guangzhou Asian Games in 2010; rated as a Grade III-Class B hospital in February 2012. It is the only comprehensive tertiary hospital in Huadu District. The hospital is divided into Xinhua Road Headquarters, Baohua Branch and Tianmei Branch.

　　There are 1,826 employees, including 236 senior professional technicians, more than 300 postgraduates and 18 doctors. The Nephrology and Urology Department is one of the only two district-level medical institutions in Guangzhou’s key disciplines; the Obstetrics Department is the Treatment Center for Gravida and Puerperal with Life-threatening Illnesses in Guangzhou; the Neurology Department is the only institution in northern Guangzhou included in China Stroke Center Alliance, CSCA; eight disciplines including Respiratory Medicine Department are key specialty in Huadu District. The hospital undertakes the teaching and internship tasks of seven colleges and universities and carries out clinical postgraduate education. There are 19 resident doctor standardized training bases, with 168 doctors under training currently.

　　In 2016, the outpatient visits were 1,556,049; emergency visits were 155,689; discharged patients were 42,138; operation patient were 20,870; bed occupancy rate: 98.04%; average length of stay: 8.25 days; CD-type case rate: 61.98%.

　　Pursuant to Article 29 of Guangzhou Medical and Health Facility Layout Plan (2011-2020), “to relocate Huadu District People’s Hospital of Guangzhou at the new central axis of Huadu District, and to newly add 840 beds and reach the total number of 1,500”, the hospital is actively preparing for a new hospital with the strong support of the government of Huadu District. The new hospital is located at the central axis of Huadu District, a CBD core region, and covers an area of 220 mu. The project is constructed according to the standard for Grade III- Class A general hospitals, and the designed building area is 230,000 square meters. At present, the deepening design of the project has been completed. It plans to start construction within the year. After the construction of the project, it will become the regional medical center in northern Guangzhou, and a modern Grade III-Class A general hospital integrating medical care, first aid, rehabilitation, prevention, health care, teaching and research.
