Founded in 1991, the Maternal and Child Health Hospital of Huadu District, Guangzhou (Huzhong Hospital) is a public hospital funded by the donation of Mr. Hu Zhong, a pioneer living in Hong Kong and the government money. Integrating health care, medical care, teaching and scientific research and featuring obstetrics, gynecology, pediatrics, stomatology and healthcare, it is a Grade III maternal and child health hospital with strong comprehensive strength. In 1996, it successfully established the “Baby-friendly Hospital”; in 2001, it passed the grading assessment of MCH institutions in Guangdong Province and became a Grade II-Class A maternal and child health hospital; in 2016, the Health and Family Planning Commission of Guangzhou Municipality clearly defined this hospital as a Grade III maternal and child health hospital; in 2005, the hospital became the “Treatment Center for Children with Life-threatening Illnesses in Huadu District”; in 2011, it was established as the “Teaching Hospital of Regular Higher Educational Institutions in Guangdong Province”; in 2013, it was established as the “Non-directly Affiliated Hospital of Guangdong Medical University”. In January 2015, it passed the evaluation of the Health and Family Planning Commission of Guangdong Province and became the “Prenatal Diagnosis Center of Huadu District, Guangzhou”; in 2016, it passed the assessment of the Health and Family Planning Commission of Guangzhou Municipality and became the “Comprehensive Intervention Center for Birth Defects of Huadu District, Guangzhou”, to assume the free prenatal diagnosis of key diseases of birth defects in the district; in 2016, it became the “Treatment Center for Gravida and Puerperal with Life-threatening Illnesses in Huadu District”; in December 2016, it passed the evaluation of the National Health and Family Planning Commission and become the only officially-run assisted reproductive institution in Huadu District. The hospital construction is carried out based on the standard for Grade III hospitals after approval by the Health and Family Planning Commission of Guangzhou Municipality and the local government. 

　　The hospital is divided into three branches with nearly 60,000 square meters of service space, 630 authorized beds and 60 dental chairs; it is the treatment center for gravida and puerperal and children with life-threatening illnesses, the only prenatal diagnosis center and the only assisted reproductive institution in Huadu District. There are 1,177 employees, including 90 senior professional technicians, 182 intermediate professional technicians and 62 masters and doctors. The hospital possesses a large number of high-end advanced equipment, such as spiral CT machine, DR imaging system, 4D color Doppler ultrasound diagnostic equipment, digital mammographic x-ray equipment, high-definition electronic laparoscopy, high-definition electronic hysteroscopy, high frequency pediatric ventilator, automatic biochemical analyzer, dental comprehensive therapeutic instrument, dental implant machine and painless childbirth self-controlled breathing equipment. The hospital undertakes major medical and health care work for children and pregnant women in Huadu District. The annual outpatients and inpatients are 900,000 and 27,000, respectively. The annual delivery quantity is more than 9,000 and the annual dental planting is more than 1,500. It is at the forefront of Guangzhou.
